- Firstly, are you sure that your modem really says CONNECT 33,600 ?
- Where do you live and what is the name of your local telephone company?
- Is your line a regular residential line or it has been conditioned in any
- way, e.g. business line?

- The reason you get 33,600 on one and 28,800 on another is because
- your conenction is neither. Modems routinely display fake connects which
- have nothing to do the real throughput. The 28,800 is probably closer to
- the truth. I doubt if you ever get a bit rate on your connection above 26,000 bps.
